Dr. Brent Martin began his dental career by earning a degree in dental lab technology. “Dr. Brent,” as he is known by patients, served as a lab technician for six years prior to attending dental school. He graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine (SIU-SDM) in 2000. As a recipient of the US Army’s Health Profession Scholarship, Dr. Brent was accepted into the Army’s competitive Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in Baumholder, Germany.

After completing the AEGD, Dr. Brent served as Brigade Dental Surgeon with the 1st Infantry Division. His travels with the Army included training in the Czech Republic and deployment in Kosovo.

These unique experiences, together with his diverse training, allow Dr. Brent to provide a truly individualistic approach to dental care. He believes, “the right decision for one person isn’t necessarily the right decision for another.”

Dr. Brent’s additional training includes forensic dentistry, mass-casualty triage, and advanced trauma life support. He has received numerous military awards and honors, including the coveted Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB). Dr. Brent received awards for academic achievement, and clinical excellence and professionalism from SIU-SDM class of 2000.

Dr. Brent currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine.

Professional memberships include the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the Illinois State Dental Society (IDS), and the St. Clair Dental Society.
